About the event

A Bilateral Climate & Energy Mission

The Scotland–Norway Decarbonisation Trade Mission 2023 brought together Scottish and Norwegian organisations working on industrial decarbonisation, carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen, and low-carbon technologies.

The two-day mission took place in central Oslo. The main programme ran at Oslo Event Hub, featuring keynotes, panel discussions, and bilateral meetings between delegates. The second part of the event was an evening networking reception at the UK Ambassador's residence — a formal diplomatic setting requiring a different photographic approach.

The mission was organised by NECCUS and The Marketing Department, with support from Norwegian Energy Partners.

Our role

Local Oslo Photography Crew

Recap Media joined The Marketing Department's wider production team as the local Oslo photography crew — providing consistent visual coverage across both parts of the event without the client needing to fly in their own photographer.

  • Conference coverage at Oslo Event Hub — keynotes, panel sessions, audience reactions, venue atmosphere
  • Networking reception photography at the UK Ambassador's residence — informal conversations, group portraits, diplomatic moments
  • Brand and partner visibility — capturing event branding, signage, and collaborating organisations
  • Fast-turnaround delivery — press-ready images within 24 hours, full gallery within one week

By hiring locally in Oslo, the client avoided flying in a photographer from Scotland — reducing travel costs, eliminating logistics overhead, and gaining on-the-ground knowledge of local venues and conditions.

Results

Press-Ready and Politically Resonant

The final image set was used across multiple communication channels:

  • Post-event press releases and stakeholder communications for NECCUS and Norwegian Energy Partners
  • Social media content across LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and organisational websites
  • Future trade mission and campaign materials — building a visual archive for ongoing CCS communications
  • Internal documentation and reference materials for both Scottish and Norwegian delegations

"Max joined our production team as the local Oslo media crew and absolutely delivered. Press-ready images within 24 hours, great coverage across both venues, and a smooth workflow that made our job easier."
